Best known for her mohawk and flair for the dramatic, Agnes is, without a doubt, one of the biggest personalities around. Small, sassy, and unapologetically opinionated, she has a wicked sense of humor and a firm stance on boundaries—no means no. Friendly, exuberant, and outgoing, she prefers to be admired from afar. Please, pet with your eyes, not your hands. And if you so much as think about petting her, she’ll probably sense it and preemptively say no. That said, if she jumps in your lap and demands attention, congratulations—you’ve been chosen. Just remember, she’s really part cat.

We joke a lot about Agnes because, let’s be honest, she has an epic resting bitch face, and her mohawk is equal parts cockatoo and mood ring. But beneath the sass is one of the smartest terriers I’ve ever had the privilege of sharing my life with—fierce, determined, and utterly herself in the most delightful way.

You may remember that in July 2021, Agnes was paralyzed in a freak accident. There’s little doubt that her sheer willpower, combined with phenomenal veterinary care and early intervention, brought her all the way back—not just to everyday life, but to the hunt field and sports. You might notice a slight wobble in her front left, a reminder of the journey she’s been through, one that ended her show career before it even began.

I’m mindful in how we approach sports and activities—because while Agnes would do all the things, all the time given the choice, it’s not always in her best interest. That doesn’t slow her down, though. She lives a full, rich life—hunting in the field, assisting in my dog training program, and competing in multiple sports, often in the same weekend.

Agnes is, without question, a living legend.
