Effin is a dog that has only improved with age. In 2023, Effin was awarded an Award of Merit at the Parson Russell Terrier Association of America National Specialty under Judge Jan Paulk, earning him an invitation to the prestigious Crufts dog show. He went on to compete as a Veteran at Crufts in March of 2024, earning a placement among prior Crufts Best of Breed and World Dog Show winners.
Effin is perhaps one of the most prolific working terriers at The Jacks Wild. He has bolted, been dug to, and caught countless marmots and ground squirrels, in addition to working fox and raccoon. In the summer of 2024, Effin faced one of his most harrowing experiences when he took on a badger, an encounter that nearly ended his life. Despite his injuries, Effin's indomitable spirit remains intact. He is now retired from fieldwork and most sports, but he continues to live an active, happy life, embodying the heart and grit of a true terrier.
